This week we enjoyed the change of scenery was we went to on a road trip to Pinawa, Manitoba to attend a gathering of YWAM Canada leaders. The drive out was nice, we got to see three more provinces of Canada!
We had a lot of time together on the road and had good conversations, listened to music, laughed together, watched movies and slept.
We arrived in Pinawa a day early so we could relax after the long drive and enjoy the beauty of the lake and retreat Center before the meetings started.
We had the great opportunity of seeing how the leaders in YWAM Canada work together. Right away we noticed the meetings of the week would be lead by the Holy Spirit. The main topic of the gathering was to discuss the way forward for YWAM Canada. During the week we heard many stories about the past. This brought laughter and some tears-what wonderful things God has done through this awesome group of people spread across Canada!
From there we transitioned to talk about the present and what is going on today. Leaders shared about their passions and what they are doing because of it. It was incredible hearing about what the different locations and people are doing.
After a few days of this we went on to look to the future. We sought God about His hopes for YWAM Canada. As we listened to each other what became clear was the importance of continuing to meet at YWAM Canada in the future.
Together the leaders will decide how to continue meeting and supporting one another in their calling and responsibilities.
The week ended with a great time of worship, thanking God for the history and future of YWAM Canada and for all he revealed during the week.
The atmosphere at the meetings was of a family gathering. We enjoyed being together, from the conversations over a meal to our free time. It was great getting to know the leaders and see them happily listen to each other and share stories. We enjoyed playing cards games, exploring the bike and walking trails, playing beach volleyball and canoeing. There was even a hot tub!
When the meetings concluded, we were on the road again for the trip back to Vancouver. We missed our Vancouver home and the DTS students and all the staff, but it was well worth the trip to experience the meeting of the YWAM Canada Leaders.
We are looking forward to the next week, as we have Amos teaching on Generational Discipleship!
