We had a great week with Cory Stroud as our speaker. She's been in leadership in YWAM for over 10 years and we loved the energy she brought with her and the stories she had to share with us.
She began by talking about how we should be living life with God. We looked at Genesis 1 and 2 to see what it would be like. Reading those two chapters we noticed much about God and His characteristics. We also went into Genesis three to see what was lost through the fall.
Cory showed us how we often take different postures towards God. We could be obeying God's rules just so He will do stuff for us, or we think we don't need God at all. We can take on a posture where we think God will give to us if you we, or we are so focused on what we are doing for God that we don't have a relationship with Him. All of this brought us back to living life with God, He should be in our everyday life.
Cory shared stories illustrating what she has been through as a leader. We talked about the Belief Tree and how we need to have good roots in order to produce good fruit. You really see your fruit when you are in a crisis or under a lot of stress. It is important to live life with God so you are prepared when the challenging times come.
One of the last things we talked about was how to engage our hearts with what's going on around us. We should invest where we are at now and not always be focused on the future. We need to trust God with where He has us at this time and believe He will have us move on when the time is right.
Friday night we drove down to Washington for a night of worship hosted by YWAM North Cascades. We had a great time of worship, intercession, and fellowship. We also had fun on the drive there and back, jamming out to music and being silly.
The weekend was good and relaxing. Some went out to explore while others stayed home to take it easy and get some work done. Saturday night some of us played Risk and the rest of us watched a movie.
We are looking forward to Nadine's week - Staying Spiritually Healthy.
Until next time,
Rachel for the SOMLD
