A New Kind Of Adventure

A New Kind Of Adventure

- Isabella F

In the last year, I've been dreaming about what a Discipleship Training School (DTS) would look like, how God would provide and what things I would experience. For example, trusting God to provide my finances has been a faith building adventure. Stepping out of my comfort zone, coming to a country not known to me, and meeting and beginning to live with strangers the very same day is a huge start to the next few months ahead. God calls His followers to go higher, grow further, and step out bolder in faith in every journey we take. When I arrived at DTS and began talking to everyone, I learned that God was taking them on the same foundational journey of trusting and depending on Him.

I'm learning that God has the best plan for us and the people who are meant to be here are here. It's amazing to see the similarities in our walks with God and the longings for how we want Him to work through this DTS.

Upon coming to my DTS, my mind was filled with wonder and excitement. At times I was anxious about not knowing what to expect and how all the students would get along. I see now how great God's plan is already working out in my DTS. We're students from a vast range of ages and cultural backgrounds. There are also vast similarities, like our love for Jesus, our love of laughter, and our openness to each other. As we live under one roof with one another, it's essential that we use those similarities and differences as growing and strengthening ties. It not only helps us get along, but builds a home and community. Despite having just met, it already feels like we've known each other for an exponentially longer time than reality. We study together, laugh together, explore and get lost together, and most importantly we are all growing in our desire to know God on a greater scale as a family.

If you are looking to embark on an adventure of a lifetime but are holding back because of fears or anxiety of what it might hold, know that God will never call you higher than you climb. Take it one choice at a time.  Be willing to put your faith out there and invest into it what you would like to receive. I can already see that this DTS is going to be fun, challenging, wonderful, emotional, exciting, and life-changing. With so many new experiences it can feel overwhelming, but I am so thankful that God is with me. In the times of uncertainty, God is my peace. Seeing how He is already working sparks a fire in me, a fire that cannot wait to explore what He has in store next!
